Creative Money Africa will host intellectual property consultant Amosa Shukurat on Thursday, July 16, for a webinar on how creators can protect their work, secure royalties, and build long-term business value from intellectual property.
Nigeria’s creative industry is attracting increased investment and recognition, contributing an estimated ₦2.53 trillion to the economy last year. However, many creators lose income due to limited understanding of how to protect, commercialize, or enforce their intellectual property.
The second edition of the Creative Money Africa Webinar Series will address this challenge on Thursday, July 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Hosted by Ekpedeme Ufot, Founder of Creative Money Africa, the session will feature leading intellectual property consultant Amosa Shukurat. She will discuss how creatives can better protect their ideas, unlock new revenue opportunities, and avoid leaving money unclaimed through weak intellectual property practices.
Why intellectual property matters more than ever
As Africa’s creative economy expands, intellectual property has become a critical asset for creators. For musicians, filmmakers, designers, writers, photographers, and digital creators, retaining ownership of creative work is essential. It influences licensing, royalties, partnerships, brand value, and long-term wealth.
However, many creative professionals lack a full understanding of copyright, trademarks, licensing agreements, and the laws that protect their work.
Creative Money Africa states that the webinar will address this knowledge gap by providing practical intellectual property principles for creatives to apply throughout their careers.
