The program brings together the local market experience of AXON Accelerator Limited and the international venture-building power of AUB iPark—the startup and innovation engine of the American University of Beirut. Together, they are tackling the steep learning curve founders face when seeking real corporate customers, regulatory clarity, and strategic capital outside their home countries.
Nigeria was selected as the foundational market for GRID 01 due to its central role in Africa’s economic and innovation landscape. Through this partnership, AXON Accelerator delivers hands-on local support, guiding founders through the nuances of doing business in Nigeria while facilitating direct B2B connections with established enterprises.
Rabie Jarmakani, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AXON Accelerator, highlighted that practical market validation is vital for long-term venture survival, particularly as artificial intelligence continues to reshape industry structures. To further solidify this commitment, AXON plans to launch a dedicated investment fund alongside its accelerator operations to back promising Nigerian and African founders directly.

The Lagos launch features entrepreneurs supported through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Entrepreneurship Fund at AUB, giving young innovators immediate exposure to investors, corporate executives, and ecosystem decision-makers.
