Nigeria’s vibrant youth population is packed with bold ideas, creative energy, and commercial ambition. Yet, turning a brilliant pitch or creative concept into a profitable, long-lasting business remains one of the hardest hurdles for young founders. To bridge the gap between creative passion and commercial success, Ecobank Nigeria has unveiled InnovateX 2026, a flagship youth challenge designed to equip early-stage innovators with direct funding, technical mentorship, and industry access.

Powered by Blaze by Ecobank in partnership with payment giant Verve, the InnovateX 2026 challenge targets young Nigerians aged 16 to 25. The initiative offers a total prize pool of ₦20 million, but the program goes far beyond monetary awards.

Participants enter a structured learning environment that guides them through the realities of business development. Selected teams will participate in hybrid bootcamps, hands-on masterclasses, and intensive mentorship sessions with experienced entrepreneurs before presenting their business models to investors during a live grand finale pitch competition.

Focus on Inclusive Finance and the Booming Creative Economy

The competition targets high-growth sectors where young Nigerians are already making an impact. InnovateX 2026 is actively looking for proposals across two major tracks:

  • Inclusive Finance & Tech Solutions: Software, fintech tools, engineering projects, and digital services that improve financial access and solve local community challenges.
  • Creative Economy & Media: Disruptive concepts in fashion, product design, content production, digital media, and entertainment.

Highlighting the strategic vision behind the initiative, Victor Yalokwu, Head of Products & Analytics at Ecobank Nigeria, noted that the bank aims to help young people transform creative energy into market-ready ventures. He emphasized that the future belongs to problem solvers who build sustainable economic value across Africa.

Building Sustainable Ventures with Blaze by Ecobank

Having a great idea is only the first step; turning it into a scalable business requires financial literacy, market knowledge, and access to supportive networks. InnovateX 2026 acts as a launchpad, teaching participants how to refine their unit economics, build operational strategies, and present their businesses to institutional investors.

The innovation challenge is integrated into Ecobank’s dedicated youth banking hub, Blaze by Ecobank. Through the Blaze account, young customers gain access to tailored financial tools, free monthly digital transfers, customized debit cards, and ongoing career development programs.

For young creators and innovators across Nigeria, InnovateX 2026 provides a platform to refine their skills, secure capital, and build sustainable enterprises that drive the continent’s digital economy forward.
