Martell Launches Swift Academy – A Pan-African Platform Curated by Africa House To Develop The Next Generation of African Music Creatives and Professionals
African music is experiencing an unprecedented global renaissance, captivating listeners across continents and redefining pop culture worldwide. However, sustained success requires more than spotlight moments—it demands robust infrastructure, access to key networks, and structured professional guidance.
To help address this challenge, Martell, the oldest of the world’s great cognac houses, has announced the launch of Swift Academy. Designed as a pan-African talent development platform, Swift Academy is built to identify, mentor, and connect emerging African music creatives and professionals with the expertise and networks needed to build long-term, sustainable careers.

Addressing the Gap in Expanding Music Industry
The dynamic rise of African soundscapes is backed by impressive numbers. Sub-Saharan Africa’s recorded music market reached $120 million in 2025, buoyed by over 15% year-on-year growth across consecutive years. Yet, the support framework for rising talent often struggles to keep pace with this momentum.
Many up-and-coming musicians, producers, audio engineers, and creative executives face significant barriers. High quality mentorship is scarce, professional networks are difficult to enter, and formal development pipelines remain limited. Swift Academy was created specifically to help bridge this gap by offering practical skill development, direct access to industry leaders, and a collaborative community that extends beyond individual regional markets.
“At Martell, we believe in celebrating progress, championing collective success, and supporting creators as they pursue excellence on their own terms. Our journey within African music has allowed us to build meaningful relationships across the ecosystem and understand where sustained support can create greater opportunity.”
“Swift Academy brings that commitment to life by helping emerging creatives and professionals strengthen their skills, access experienced mentors, and build connections that can support their growth.”
— Lanre Odutola, Head of Culture & Partnerships, Martell
A Strategic Partnership Driven by Cultural Purpose and Expertise
To ensure the curriculum and network reflect authentic industry needs, Martell partnered with Africa House as the official curatorial partner. Operating at the intersection of culture, creative talent, and global brand strategy, Africa House brings a deep understanding of local creative ecosystems and a cross-market diaspora network.
Africa House specializes in designing curated spaces and community-led initiatives that bring together visionaries from diverse creative sectors. Through Swift Academy, they are expanding that mission into a structured pipeline for early-stage talent.
“Swift Academy reflects what Africa House was created to do: connect the talent that already exists across the continent with the ecosystems and opportunities that allow it to grow.”
“We’ve always felt it was important to create pathways for emerging talent to access those spaces through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and meaningful connections with established creative leaders. Swift Academy is a natural extension of that work.”
— Jade Kelly Wilson, Co-founder, Africa House
Starting in Kenya with a Continental Vision
The Swift Academy framework will unfold across Africa over the next 12 months. The maiden cohort will kick off in Kenya, aiming to directly empower 100 emerging creatives and music professionals in its inaugural year alone.
Participants in the cohort will engage in masterclasses, strategic workshops, peer-to-peer collaborations, and direct networking opportunities with veteran industry executives. By fostering meaningful relationships that transcend local borders, the academy aims to seed sustainable growth for the broader African music landscape.
Applications for the inaugural Kenya edition of Swift Academy officially open on August 17, 2026. Emerging artists, producers, managers, and music professionals interested in joining the program can complete their initial setup now through the official Swift Academy Pre-Registration Portal.
