AMVCA Partnership – Diageo Strengthens Support for African Creativity

Global beverage company Diageo has once again demonstrated its strengthened support to promoting African creativity and cultural expression through its strong presence at the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The company played a major role in this year’s event by supporting different aspects of the entertainment and creative ecosystem, from hospitality and performances to cultural showcases and business opportunities for creatives and small businesses across the continent. The partnership reflects Diageo’s growing investment in Africa’s creative economy and its belief in the power of storytelling, talent, and cultural connection.

As part of its extensive involvement, premium tequila brand Don Julio served as the headline sponsor of the awards, helping to position the event as one of Africa’s biggest cultural and entertainment moments. Guinness also took center stage as the official beer sponsor, delivering memorable entertainment experiences during the AMVCA after-party with performances from top music stars including Tiwa Savage, Benson, Fave, and Odumodu Black.

Other brands within Diageo’s portfolio also contributed significantly to the celebration. Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Black Label, and Blonde were integrated into several sponsorship moments during the event, while The Singleton created a premium whisky experience through its specially curated Escape Lounge. Orijin further highlighted African heritage and cultural pride by sponsoring the AMVCA Cultural Day, while Malta Guinness maintained visibility throughout the event as the official malt drink partner.

Speaking on the significance of the partnership, Diageo executives emphasized the importance of culture as a driver of creativity, connection, and economic growth. According to the company, supporting platforms like the AMVCA allows them to contribute meaningfully to industries that continue to shape Africa’s global cultural influence.

Beyond entertainment, the AMVCA continues to create opportunities for filmmakers, designers, makeup artists, production teams, hospitality businesses, digital creators, and other professionals within the creative sector. The ripple effect of the event contributes to the expansion of Nigeria’s and Africa’s broader creative economy by supporting talents and SMEs connected to the industry.

Diageo’s involvement at the AMVCA also reflects a broader strategy focused on celebrating African excellence and strengthening local storytelling across the continent. Through collaborations like this, the company continues to position itself as a strong supporter of African entertainment, innovation, and premium cultural experiences.
